TIME Person Of The Year 2016 - Readers Poll - Narendra Modi

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has won the TIME Person Of The Year 2016 Online Reader's Poll with 18% vote share.


Modi won the same award in 2014 with 16 per cent of the almost five million votes cast. He has been among the contenders for the fourth year in a row.  

Mahatma Gandhi won Person of the Year (called Man of the Year until 1999in the year 1930.

Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ is an honor which the US publication bestows every year to the one who has most influenced the news and the world in the past year, for good or ill”.

This year’s poll was conducted in partnership with Opentopic and IBM’s Watson, thereby assisting TIME editors to see how candidates were influential on the Internet.
